Planning vs. Pantsing: Which One?

If you've ever written a novel, you'll know it's no easy feat. In fact, if you've ever written anything, it's not easy. But I'm focusing on novels in particular, because that's what I tend to write most of the time.

Now don't get me wrong - there are a lot of pitfalls and places to trip up while writing a book. But one of the biggest decisions is whether to flat out write the damn thing - 'pants' it - to completely write with abandon, no plan, to plunge into the writing head-on, or to meticulously plan every last detail before you start writing.

Grist Anthology 2017 Launch

A short post about my involvement with Grist and a short insight into the process over the last 18 months!

Author Interview #2: Sophie Johnson

Today I bring you... (drumroll please) the wonderful Sophie Johnson. I've known Sophie for a couple of years now. We met through our university courses, and I knew she'd have some interesting insights and knowledge to impart. While she's often considered as "that comic book person" in her close circles, Sophie is much more than that. She's dedicated to her writing more than anything, so I wanted to know what she does it for, what it's all about, and what makes her tick.

Author Interview #1: Gill Hoffs

A smiling lady with a shock of red hair and a love of the sea is author Gill Hoffs. She's been on the writing scene since 2010, but no doubt has been writing stories longer than that! I got the chance to ask her a couple of questions, so here it is: our first taste here of what it's like to be out there and published (and loving it!).
